Elevating R&D in Advanced Life Sciences
The network offers an opportunity for enterprises to engage with universities for research and development. Our experts have scope to develop research and development projects with enterprises. If an enterprise seeks to develop new products, processes or solve a problem, the network can facilitate and conduct short-term research and development studies.
Knowledge and skill within the network is multi-disciplinary and we encourage enterprises from all life science themes to approach and engage the network to see whether there is an opportunity to develop collaborations. Experts are primarily focussed on the advanced life sciences which includes but is not limited to the following themes:
The network offers a range of facilities to support enterprise with their research and development needs with expertise in tissue engineering, gene therapy, molecular biology and biomedical engineering. We enable development of commercially viable and clinically effective regenerative medicine applications that are safe and reproducible at an economically acceptable cost.
Advanced therapeutics is a disease treatment or prevention strategy that considers which approaches will be effective for which patients based on their genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. Targeting patients or groups of patients more accurately for prevention or treatment of a particular disease can spare expense and side-effects.
This area of R&D explores the interaction of living systems or tissue with materials such as nanoparticles or nanostructured materials, to determine their biologically compatibility. Research within this theme covers areas including nano-safety and toxicology screening, including biocompatibility testing and the implementation and improvement of new safety evaluation programs and protocols.
University partners host a range of expertise and facilities enabling the development of diagnostics and medical devices including wearables, minimally invasive devices and biosensors. We can support clinical, scientific or translational research to generate new technologies and processes that can be transferred into clinical practiceas guidelines, diagnostic tests or medical devices.
