These lectures will explore the rapidly growing life science sector in Wales, the UK and internationally with a focus on the benefits that collaborations between business and Swansea University Medical School academics create, as well as opportunities for future collaborations.

Jon Wood is the Manager for Wales at Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency. Jon works with key stakeholders in Wales to develop stronger links between local and national innovation strategies, and maximise the innovation opportunities in Wales. The UK’s Industrial Strategy sets out 4 Grand Challenges that society faces, which industry and the research base can address through collaboration. Jon’s current focus is on the opportunities for innovative solutions from Wales that can address these societal challenges.

Jon has previously worked in the Industrial Biotechnology sector and has a PhD in molecular microbiology.
